Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: 5th Jaeger Division situation reports, for August 3; a German Air Force (GAF) appreciation of the Normandy - Brittany ground situation, on August 3; situation reports by the 25th Army Corps and the Panzer Lehr Division, for August 3; a situation report by flak forces, covering August 2 and 3; a situation report for August 2; that the 9th SS Panzer Division claims some success in a counter-attack, on August 3; the 7th Army reports that withdrawals by the 2nd Parachute and 47th Panzer Corps are intended, on August 2; the 47th Panzer Corps reports its withdrawal, on August 3; that the 326th Infantry Division is withdrawing, on August 3; and that German submarines are to be made ready for operations or otherwise be prepared for destruction, from August 3.
