Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: of the Panzer Lehr Division forming a battle reserve on a given line, on July 6; and that a German Air Force (GAF) wing is to receive a report listing overtired pilots, on July 5; on South-east Europe: of Allied raids on oil refineries in the Trieste area, on July 6; and of a steamship being destroyed on passage to Zara in an air attack, on July 6-7; on South Europe: that the Germans are unable to return some destroyers to the Vichy government because of the situation, with 3 new constructions at Toulon being offered, on July 1; Naval Headlines; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, giving a German Foreign Office up-date on the Russian and Normandy fronts, as at July 3.
