Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of references to Allied air raid damage at Leghorn, on June 29; a serviceability return of the 2nd Air Corps for June 30; and of the precautions against invasion being taken by a German Air Force (GAF) unit in Italy, on June 30; on South-east Europe: that elements of the Brandenburg Division are being deployed to the Peloponnese, on June 29; and an incomplete report on operations in the Balkans on June 29; a German naval situation report from all theatres, for July 1; and on the Russian Front: a situation report for June 30.
