This file includes the following reports on France: that the German coastal defence was ordered to be extremely vigilant for small British landings, on October 18; on the Southern Russian Front: the German ground forces report heavy fighting at Stalingrad, on October 21; from the Italian minister in Dublin, on Irish anticipation of the British offensive in Egypt, from October 16; the Prime Minister (PM) orders C to send this to the Foreign Secretary (see 1126).
