Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of a Panzer Army assessment of Allied forces; of indications of an Allied large-scale attack in the near future, from October 7; and of the Panzer Army's supply requirements in anticipation of an impending Allied offensive, on October 8; Naval Headlines, covering a German armed raider being en route with an escort south to Boulogne, on October 8; from the Turkish ambassador in Vichy, of French comments from a member of Petain's staff on October 6; and from the Turkish ambassador in Kuibyshev on the war in Russia, as of October 6.
