Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a situation report from the 46th Panzer Corps noting advances in Gomel sector on September 9; a situation report from the 47th Panzer Corps in the Novgorod-Severski area; arrangements for the officer in charge of the air component of the 2nd Panzer Group to see Fieldmarshal Milch in Berlin on September 9 and 10; an evening report from the 1st Panzer Group for September 9; a report that the Soviet troops were resisting stubbornly in the Dniepropetrovsk area; a report that the German army had captured and advanced beyond Chernigov; a report of the locations of the battle HQ of the 48th and 14th Army Corps; reports that elements of the 24th Army Corps were advancing; a report of the movement of a long range bomber unit from the 10th Air Corps area of operations back to Holland; a request from Panzer Group Africa for continuous photographic reconnaissance of the area around Sidi Berrani, Mersa Matrah and El Daba to support a 'special undertaking'; a report from the Foreign Ministry in Rome of a message from the Italian Legation in Helsinki of rumours of Soviet-Finnish peace proposals; a report by the Turkish military attaché in Moscow on the progress of the Soviet-German war; reports that German troops are nearing Leningrad and attempting to cross the lower Dnieper; and reports that the Rybinsk-Volga-Moscow-Volga Canal is being fortified and strengthened.
