1 Mar 1945

NORWAY 6. There are at present some 8-10 destroyers and torpedo boats, about 70 U-boats and a large number of minor Warships based on Norwegian ports. Further units of the German fleet may seek refuge there if the Russians continue to drive along the Baltic coast. There are at present 10 divisions in Norway, of which four are North of Trondheim and six in South Norway. The G.A.F. in Norway amounts to some 290 aircraft which are unlikely to decrease. 7. During the past months the enemy has been withdrawing divisions from Norway to Germany, but the rate of withdrawal has now been very seriously reduced owing to sinkings and mining.
