ANNEX "B" [J.P.(43) 444(S) (T. of R.) 31ST DECEMBER, 1943] WAR CABINET JOINT PLANNING STAFF POLICY TOWARDS SPAIN Note by the Secretary The Chiefs of Staff Committee at their meeting+ on the 30th December instructed the Joint Planning Staff to prepare an appreciation of the advantages which might be obtained from Spain by the adoption of a firmer policy. It is suggested that the appreciation should cover the following points:(i) What advantages would accrue to us from a successful application of pressure on Spain? (ii) What would be the disadvantages? (iii) Assuming that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, when would be the most propitious time to exercise pressure and what form should that pressure take? 2.
