7. The 400-450 aircraft (see note after final paragraph) might be constituted as follows :L.R.B. 120-140 B.R. 30 D.B. 30 F.B. 50 S.E.F. 120-150 T.E.F. 30 A/C 20 400-450 (Serviceability between 50 and 60 per cent) The role of the above force would be primarily to give close support to the Army. On the assumption given that the force had previously been concentrated ready in Southern France, it could conform to the Army timetable. Fighter type aircraft would move in with the leading troops, the Long Range Bombers would operate from airfields in Southern France and only move to airfields in Spain after occupation of that country had been completed and airfields there equipped with ground staff and stocks.
