ANNEX To: Secretary, J.I.C. [Copy to Secretary, J.P.S.] From: F.P.S. Ref: A/43 Date: 4th September, 1942. We have been instructed to prepare a staff study and a broad outline plan for the capture of Sardinia. Our assumptions are:(a) The Allies are firmly established in the Torch Area. (b) Rommel is still undefeated and occupies Libya, being engaged in the east only. (c) The Axis show no indication of invading Spain. (d) The Russians have not been defeated. (e) Date of our assault approximately February/ March, 1943.
