The Situation in China. Note by the Secretary

DRAFT TELEGRAM FROM THE FOREIGN OFFICE TO HIS MAJESTY'S AMBASSADOR IN CHUNGKING Combined Chiefs of Staff organisation in Washington are engaged in a study of the Situation in China. It is felt that the available information is far from complete and should be grateful for factual appreciation of (a) Possibility of continued effective repeat effective Chinese resistance during next twelve months. (b) What Chiang Kai-Shek's position will be at end of that period. Including in particular answers to the following questions, on basis assumption that supplies to China remain on present or only slightly increased level for the next twelve months.
