Unfortunately, this embargo cannot be enforced as regards all the missions, without placing guards or police a step which the Committee felt could not be taken at the present juncture, because the French Military Mission, and a great many of the civil missions, are actually housed in separate buildings and are therefore not under the direct control of British administration. This situation only reinforces the feeling the steps as regards the final disposal of all French archives should be taken with the least possible delay.
