Germany's Next Move. Report

1 May 1940

8. Assuming that a peace and reorganisation plan of this kind may be launched in the immediate future it is probable that it will, in reality, be only a cloak for further preparation, should such be necessary, for a major assault upon British sea and air power, particularly in these islands, and in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. 9. The above would appear to be the most probable German behaviour in view of the known facts of the present position. German psychology and Nazi mysticism cannot, however, be altogether excluded in assessing their probable next move.
