2. POSSIBLE GERMAN KNOWLEDGE OF OUR CYPHERS. MR. CAVENDISH-BENTINCK, introducing the second paper on the Agenda (Paper No. J.I.C. (40)113) said that the cypher position as far as the Foreign Office was concerned was improving, although the Interdepartmental Book and the M. Book, together with Interdepartmental tables 4. 5 and 6 and the 1;. Table 7-12, are presumed to have been seized at Bergen. The Interdepartmental table 7 now in use should be safe. It came into force, as received by posts abroad from early in April.
