4. GRADING OF RELIABILITY OF REPORTS IN THE DAILY SUMMARY. THE DIRECTOR OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE raised the point as to whether items of intelligence in the Daily summary should be graded, e.g., B(2) etc. to show their reliability. This was discussed. THE COMMITTEE agreed:To continue the present system whereby items in the Daily Summary should not be graded. 5. FIFTH COLUMN ACTIVITIES. THE SUB-COMMITTEE had under consideration a note by the Secretary, Paper Non J.I.C.(40)85, explaining that the Memorandum approved at the 35th Meeting held on the 26th May was not suitable in that form for circulation on a large scale.
