Joint Consultative Committee on Captured German Archives

15 Mar 1949

The collection at the centre is diminishing, and was previously much larger. There is no set policy about the disposal of the documents, and at the discretion of the officer in charge parcels of documents are periodically sent to be reduced to pulp. It seems that he is of the opinion that most of the present holdings will meet this end, as copies of almost all the documents, periodicals and publications have already been dispatched to the United Kingdom. Places to which copies have been sent include the Air Ministry (Air Intelligence), War Office, Board of Trade, (Cadogan Square, London Documents of the Speer Ministry were sent here for example), University of London (School of Economics) and the Cabinet Library in Parliament Square.
