Sierra Leone - Internal Security

15 Mar 1949

SECRET SIERRA LEONE INTERNAL SECURITY Report by Lieut.-Colonel R.W.B. Simonds, Royal Marines, Staff Officer (Intelligence), South Atlantic. GENERAL I visited FREETOWN 25th-30th March, 1949, and discussed the question of Internal Security with His Excellency the Governor, the Colonial Secretary, the Commissioner of Police, and the head of the C.I.D. 2. To understand this problem, it is necessary to realize that the "Colony" consists of the FREETOWN Peninsula, the "Protectorate" being the remaining 99% of SIERRA LEONE.
