Use of Germans as Interrogators in Germany

15 Mar 1949

5. 6. 7. 8. -2Although it is for the interrogation of PWX that these German interrogators are most required, as generally the IOs who deal with this type of overt informant must also carry out the interrogation of line-crossers and refugees it would be advantageous if German "Assistant" interrogators were also used inthis field. As an experiment a German "flusher" in 3. refugee camp was allowed to interrogate a refugee from the ussian zone and the resultant report is appended to this paper. It will be observed that the information is simple and of the type not requiring a graded brief, but would nevertheless have taken up the valuable time of an IO, if the German "flusher" had not been used.
