GUARD TOP SECRET 1. POSSIBLE U.S. POLICY IN THE FAR EAST MR. KING referred to a telegram+ from H.M. Ambassador in Washington on the subject of the lines that United States policy might follow in the Far East in the event of further aggression by Communist China. THE COMMITTEE:Expressed concern at this indication that United States opinion in this respect appeared to be again diverging from British policy, and agreed that the Joint Intelligence Staff should be warned to be ready to re-examine the subject at short notice, if required.
