'X' TOP SECRET SIR PERCY SILLITOE said that, although his Department had made no study of the effects of the 'Peace Campaign', he doubted whether it had made much progress in this country: the only newspaper in this country which supported it was finding it difficult to maintain its circulation and there was considerable counter-propaganda designed to expose the insincerity of the campaign. Nevertheless, he suggested, and the Committee agreed, that his Department, in conjunction with the Colonial Office, should undertake an examination of the effect of the 'Peace Campaign' in this country and in the Colonies.
