5. SOVIET PREPAREDNESS FOR WAR. TOP SECRET (Previous Reference: J.I.C.(50) 115th Meeting, Minute 8) THE COMMITTEE had their weekly discussion on Soviet preparedness for aggressive action and agreed that there were no indications of Soviet or Soviet-inspired aggression around the Soviet perimeter. 6. PROFESSOR PONTECORVO. SECRET SIR PERCY SILLITOE said that, in the light of the disturbing disappearance of Professor Pontecorvo, the Security Service had prepared a note on the subject of the employment of aliens and recently naturalised British subjects on defence work.
