3. SOVIET PREPAREDNESS FOR WAR TOP SECRET (Previous Reference: J.I.C.(50)89th Meeting, Minute 5) THE COMMITTEE had their weekly discussion on Soviet preparedness for aggressive action. AIR VICE MARSHAL OGILVIE-FORBES said that no further intelligence had been received to enable conclusions to be drawn concerning Soviet civil aviation, which he had reported to the Committee the previous week. The situation should continue to be most carefully watched. As regards Korea, there were indications of increasing preparations for enemy air activity: airfields were being developed and the arrival of considerable numbers of aircraft had been reported just north of the Korean frontier in Manchuria.
