3. SOVIET INTENTIONS AND CAPABILITIES TOP SECRET ANGLO-U.S. INTELLIGENCE CONFERENCE. THE COMMITTEE had a preliminary discussion on a telegram+ from Lord Tedder to the Chiefs of Staff stating that certain actions were being recommended as a result of discussions with the Americans on the present world situation, one of which was that there should be a combined Anglo-U.S. intelligence conference with the object of arriving at an estimate of Soviet capabilities and intentions. Lord Tedder was writing to General Bradley suggesting, inter alia, that a United Kingdom intelligence team should visit Washington as soon as London had had time to consider the latest United States estimate of Soviet intentions which the Joint Intelligence Committee now held.
