unless details of the scheme for the exchange of British and American officers was eventually declassified, GROUP CAPTAIN BRODIE said that the exclusion of names of American officers from Service telephone directories must inevitably cause them some inconvenience. BRIGADIER HIRSCH said that the War Office had been asked initially by G-2 in the War Department to omit the names of American officers from War Office telephone directories and similar reference books. Any relaxation of this point would, therefore, require the approval of the Americans in the first instance.
