BRIGADIER ALLEN explained that a Defence Security Officer had originally been posted to Ceylon, but to avoid embarrassment to the Governor during the framing and negotiating of the new Constitution he had been withdrawn and his work carried on by the Staff Officer (Intelligence) at Columbo. The difficulty as described by the Joint Intelligence Committee, Far East, had apparently arisen owing to the move of the Staff Officer (Intelligence) to Trincomalee. Now that the details of the Constitution had been completed he understood that consideration had been given to reposting a Defence Security officer to Ceylon who would be included in the Governor's establishment, but who would come within the orbit of Security Intelligence, Far East.
