A volume of reports commissioned for the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC). The JIC was formed of representatives from the intelligence services, the armed services, and the Foreign Office. Subjects covered in this file include armistice negotiations in the Korean War; the likelihood of war with the USSR; defence strategy for East Asia and Australasia in the event of a major war; the regulation of information sharing between members of NATO; the economic policy of the Soviet Union and its European satellites; developments in the First Indochina War; the denial of German scientists to the Russians; staff reductions in British intelligence establishments in Austria and Germany; and the security classification of intelligence documents.
