COPY TOP SECRET TRANSLATION APPENDIX "A" INTERESTING INFORMATION CONCERNING THE FUTURE VOLKS ARMEE (PEOPLE'S ARMY) (From our own correspondent) Geneva 14th December 1949. A report from the Berlin Correspondent of the Zurich newspaper "Die Tat" contains interesting information about the preparations being made in Eastern Germany for the gradual transformation of the Volkspolizei into a Volksarmee (People's Army). There will be Five Groups with Headquarters at Potsdam, Schwerin, Dresden, Weimar and Halls, and each will consist of an Armoured Group and a Motorised Infantry Group.
