departments maintain records as specifically required. It may be necessary to give J.I.B. some special authority for this purpose. Where there is a need for defence information of a specialised nature which is not normally the responsibility of any department, J.I.B. should be free to obtain assistance from the Service Departments in procuring it. We consider that, in addition, J.I.B. should maintain a directory of sources of all such information. Finally, we consider that, for the time being at any rate, the J.I.B.
