Movements of Russian Troops Outside the U.S.S.R. Except in the Far East

1 Jan 1947

AIR DISPOSITIONS 12. We consider that, with the exception of the Soviet Air Forces in Bulgaria, there has been an overall reduction of the number of Russian aircraft located outside the Soviet Union. In the case of Bulgaria, however, there appears to have been an increase, but we have no evidence of attendant or excessive stockpiling which might indicate aggressive intentions. 13. Our present estimate of the total number of Soviet aircraft in Poland and Germany is 1350 1550, as opposed to 2000 2600, which was the number given in our last review.
