Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: Naval Headlines; from the French Foreign Ministry, that France was not consulted on the Italian 1943 armistice and feels free to conduct its own negotiations with Italy, on May 18; and that France has occupied Italian territory and the ambassador in Rome is to negotiate from a position of strength, on May 21; from the Brazilian ambassador in London, that Stalin prefers to wait for a three-power meeting, on May 22; from the French chargé in London, on the British election prospects, on May 23; from the Spanish minister in Ankara, describing Turco-Soviet relations, on May 21; and from the Turkish ambassador in Rome, on Italian feeling over Tito's seizure of Trieste and worries concerning French territorial ambitions, on May 18.
