Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: that Army Group G order preparations for an attack on the Allies advancing on Passau, on April 26; that Hitler appoints Doenitz to the defence of the northern area, with the German Air Force (GAF) under Stumpf being subordinated to him, on April 25; a report to Hitler that Dutch civilians in the fortress of Holland will be without food, and that the navy is opposed to Red Cross ships unloading at Den Helder, on April 23; that the SS in Holland tell Himmler that food for civilians is available until May 10, as of April 24; and that Himmler orders the release of certain categories of Norwegian prisoners, on April 22; on East Europe: of German forces attacking in the north; and that the appearance of the Soviet 6th Tank Army at Brno is causing grave difficulties, on April 25.
