A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: that Blaskowitz is to carry out an attack ordered by Hitler as necessary to hold the line from Elden-Doetinchem-Ruurlo, with an attempt also to be made to join up with the right wing of the 1st Parachute Army in the area of Haaksbergen; that the Commander in Chief (CinC) West orders for the development of a rearward position by the forces of a national call out, on April 1; Army Group B report strong Allied pressure north-east of Berleburg, and the arrival of the main body of the Panzer Lehr Division with Bayerlein; of Army Group B reporting a critical situation because of the state of its troops, the shortage of fuel and ammunition and the impossibility of movement by rail, and that the Group is unable to influence Allied further intentions; and of Group Bayerlein concentrating around Schmallenberg preparatory to a counter attack, with an assessment of the U.S. 1st Army's intention to join up with the U.K.'s 2nd Army, that the fuel and ammunition situation is viewed with great concern, that mobility is decisive for the Group, and stating the movements of German troops and reserves.
