Description
A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: that the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) West points out that the Ersatz and training units to be brought up comprise recruits of short training, on March 24; that the C-in-C West orders that the situation in the area from Frankfurt - Mainz - Darmstadt and to the south-east demanded immediate counter-measures, on March 24; and a German Air Force (GAF) operations report, for March 25; on Southern Europe: of a protest by the C-in-C for the South-west against the proposed withdrawal of two flak units from Italy, on March 21; and that all railway frontier crossings from Italy to the north were impassable on March 21; and Naval Headlines for March 23, 24, 25 and 26.
