Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: a Western Front situation report, for March 11; a German sigint report on the Allied crossing of the Rhine, on March 11; that it is impossible to hand over small battle units to SS pursuit units until further notice, from March 11; that swimming saboteurs and explosive motor-boats are to be utilised to combat the Allied Rhine crossings, on March 12; and that A Gauleiter requests Goering that fuel be provided for fighters in defence of Styria, on March 8; on the Russian Front: a situation report from Latvia, for March 9; that Army Group Courland has requested transport for von Vietinghoff at Zossen on March 12 in view of his appointment as Commander in Chief (C-in-C) for the South-west, on March 10; Naval Headlines; from the Portuguese minister in Tokyo, noting Japanese depression, on March 8; and from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, German press directives, on March 6.
