Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file contains a message from C to the Prime Minister (PM); and the following reports on Western Europe: of a German Air Force (GAF) order for the highest state of readiness to meet an expected large-scale Allied offensive; and of Hitler's orders for the formation of a Rhine position, on February 20; on Germany: of increasing numbers of wounded arriving, especially from the east, with 12,000 en route from Hanover and Kessel and authorities in Westphalia are to make accommodation available, on February 20; and of an order from Hitler to all Commanders in Chief (CinCs), Ground Officers Commanding (GOCs) and Divisional Commanders to report to him decisions proposed in good time for him to countermand them if necessary, on January 21.
