Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Eastern Europe: that Major General Gonell, Commandant of Fortress Poznan, is expecting a renewed Soviet concentration; that a Soviet demand for surrender was carried by German PoWs; and of an increasing shortage of ammunition, with there being no air-borne supplies, on February 17; and from the German military attaché in Bangkok, on the war situation in south-eastern China, Burma, Thailand, the south-eastern Pacific and the Philippines, as at February 18.
