Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: that the withdrawal of the 167th Volks Grenadier Division is envisaged, on January 12; the 2nd SS Panzer Corps reports its position and the intentions of both the Allied and Axis forces, on January 11; of the 11th Panzer Division probably transferring to the Saarburg area during the night of January 11; of the 10th SS Panzer Division being brought up on January 10 for use west of Hagenau; that Hitler is to be provided with quicker information at the main battle centres by means of special wireless links to be set up between Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW), Armed Forces Operations Staff and the commands, on January 5; an Army Group B situation report highlighting that supplies are strained, on January 2; and of special measures being taken by the German Air Force (GAF) to make good the casualties among day fighter formation leaders, from January 8 to 10; from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, that the German ambassador to the Vatican remonstrates with the Pope, on January 6; and German press directives of the military situation, on January 9; and from M. Emile Paris in London, on the Yugoslavia internal situation, as of January 9.
