A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: that Stavelot is still in Allied hands, with the spearhead of the 1st SS Panzer Division surrounded, on December 22; of a German summons to surrender Bastogne being refused, on December 22; on the Panzer Lehr Division's position, as at December 22; that the German Air Force's (GAF's) intentions for December 22 and 23 are to concentrate their attack on Liege; that St Vith was claimed to have been captured by the Germans on December 21; battle reports of December 22 showing little change in the situation in Belgium; and that 10,141 prisoners are claimed in the area east of St Vith; and of orders for supply-dropping and parachutist-dropping operations to be carried out on December 19; and on the Russian Front: an appreciation of the enemy situation including impending large-scale staggered offensives on the whole central sector of the Russian Front, from December 17.
