Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on South Europe: that the German Air Force (GAF) in Italy assess the withdrawal of Allied landing craft from the Mediterranean as an indication of landing intentions from England, on November 27; on West Europe: of the identification of Allied air landing areas for the GAF, on November 20; Naval Headlines; from DiploFrance in Paris to the ambassador in London, on Franco-Belgian talks, on November 24; from the Japanese minister in Madrid, on the war situation, and claiming brighter prospects for Germany and Japan, on November 23; from the German ambassador in Tokyo, on Soviet-Japanese relations, as at November 23; and from the Japanese Ministry for Foreign Affairs, describing a naval battle in the Philippines on October 24-25.
