A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: battle reports for November 4: that the Battle HQ of the 118th Grenadier Regiment was destroyed near Trier in an air raid; that the 1st Parachute Army expects an Allied attack across the lower Rhine between Renkum and Costerbeek; of the Heusden bridgehead being given up with heavy casualties, with the remaining elements of the 59th Infantry Division on the north bank of the Maas; that Allied attacks on the left wing of the 64th Corps were beaten off with heavy losses; and that the Allies are continuing their attempt to break through towards Gerardmer; and that Allied fighter bomber activity in the Meijel area is believed to indicate a large-scale attack; on Southern Europe: of the 2nd Italian Division Littorio being brought from Germany to the area south and south-west of Piacenza for the destruction of guerrillas, taking over the former divisional sector of the Monte Rosa Division, on November 5; and on South-east Europe: of orders from the Commander in Chief (CinC) of Army Group E for a withdrawal from Yugoslavia, on October 27.
