Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: an 88th Army Corps report for November 1, noting that the 256th Volks Grenadier Division destroyed a bridge over the Maas at Keizersveer, the intention being to hold the Maas position and reinforce the Waal position, that a bridge over the Waal was blown up at Zaltbommel, and that the 712th Division has been resubordinated to the Corps and is transferring to an area at Buren for rest and refit; that the 9th Panzer Division's offensive operation has concluded, and the Division is to leave the area, on November 1; and of the 89th Corps having pulled out, with its sector being taken over by the 64th Corps with its Battle HQ located at Denipaire, and with the 64th Corps' former sector being taken over by the 4th German Air Force (GAF) Field Corps; on Germany: of a traffic ban for the whole Reich area, on October 27; on Eastern Europe: the GAF report a Soviet push towards Budapest was held in the Kecskemet area; and that the 1st Air Corps is to support Army A Group Fretter Pico, on October 31; and of an exhortation from Hitler to the German forces in the East to resist the invaders to the last, on October 26; on Northern Europe: that the Norwegian civilian population is to be evacuated on Hitler's orders from various Baltic locations and taken westwards, on November 1; from the Japanese military attaché at Cortina D'Ampezzo, detailing an interview with Mussolini, on October 24; and a Japanese intelligence summary, outlining the progress of the fighting in the Philippines, on October 29.
