This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: of Liesel being captured by the 15th Panzer Grenadier Division on October 29; that in Flanders the existing main defence line has collapsed; that Naval Artillery Abteilung 203 is to form a unified strongpoint, with the remaining elements of the division withdrawing over the Uitwatering Kanal; that 15cm ammunition is in short supply; and that an attack is expected during the night, so artillery support is requested; that Walcheren is coming under Allied artillery fire and fighter bomber attacks from the south Scheldt area; and of the Rhine suspension bridge near Cologne-Muehlheim being completely destroyed, with a smoke screen being requested to cover work to clear the channel; on Italy: the 356th Infantry Division report Allied reinforcements in Predappio and in the direction of Meldola; on South-east Europe: that the hospital ship Gradisca left Salonika at 06:00 hours on October 28 bound for Kos and Suda; on Germany: of a 3rd Fighter Division prohibition on the withdrawal of personnel subordinate to the Air Fleet Reich for the Volkssturm or similar functions by the Party or other authorities; Naval Headlines, covering that the U-boats of the Panther Group are to form a patrol line across the Kola Inlet to intercept a PQ Convoy, on October 28; that materials for a sabotage operation against Nijmegen are ready in Utrecht and awaiting favourable weather conditions; that Flushing-Cadz and supply convoys have finished, with the army withdrawing westwards, and that Flushing harbour is to remain open until a mine field has been laid in Honte, east of Flushing; operations using explosive motor boats; that the Japanese sighted an Allied force of warships and transports off the Talaud Islands, between Halmahera and Mindanao, on October 27; and that the Japanese Diversion Attack Force is to be off north west Palawan, on October 27.
