Description
A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: the SDC commandant in south Holland reports that the conception of Walcheren as a fortress was untenable, on September 29; and from the Commander in Chief (C-in-C) West, quoting Hitler, that there is only one main defence zone of the West Wall, on September 19; on South-east Europe: that British forces are reported to have entered Patras, on October 2; Naval Headlines; and from the French delegate in Stockholm, on the Allied-Soviet attitude towards Sweden, on September 26.
