Description
A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: that the 5th Fighter Division expects a major Allied attack, on September 28; that von Rundstedt orders Army Group G to reinforce the Belfort area, on September 28; that undisciplined troops wandering back to Holland, Aachen and the Burgundian gates are causing a collapse of morale, and the severest measures are to be taken, on September 28; that artillery battalions with 200 heavy guns are to be deployed in the Saar area, on September 26; and that the fighting morale of the infantry in Calais is very low, on September 28; on Southwest Europe: a strength return from the 15th Mountain Corps, for September 17; and on German difficulties in the Balkan hinterland and southern Dalmatia, on September 25.
