This file includes the following reports: Naval Headlines, covering a further operation using remote-controlled explosive motor boats against the Allied assault area in Seine Bay; that the German Admiralty is anticipating a large-scale Allied landing operation against the south coast of France; an urgent request from Lorient for anti-tetanus serum; and a complaint from the Japanese 1st Mobile Fleet of a lack of support and supply vessels; on France: on the disposition of U-boats in the Brest Peninsula ports, on August 11; a summary of reports, including orders for Panzer Group Eberbach to attack from the Mortain-Domfront area with the objective of taking Avranches, and that the formations taking part are to include the 47th and 58th Corps, the 2nd and 116th Panzer Divisions, the 1st, 2nd and 10th SS Panzer Divisions and the main body of the 9th Panzer Division; of the 49th Infantry Division being brought up to the 7th Army in the Argentan area; of the 5th Panzer Army commanding in the defence area south and east of Caen; of the 6th Parachute Division being subordinated to the 7th Army on the western edge of Paris; of the 1st Army transferring to Fontainebleau from Bordeaux; that Panzer Division Lehr reported it was badly battered and incapable of operating on August 5 but was protecting Alencon on August 9; of the 12th SS Panzer Division being withdrawn from the line as a reserve to the 1st SS Panzer Corps, on August 10; and that the French population is to be drawn on to assist in the construction of a rearward position including the Marne-Saone Canal, an arc between points 60 miles east of Paris and 60 miles north of Dijon, by order of the German Supreme Command, on August 5; on Italy: that Hitler ordered the construction of extra blocking positions to hamper an Allied penetration into the Udine basin, on July 29; and of the 75th Corps transferring from the mouth of the River Arno to an area north of Genoa, on August 9.
