Description

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: that the 12th SS Panzer Division suspects the Allies are regrouping, on July 27; and of the 84th Army Corps taking up a blocking position opposite U.S. forces, on July 27; Naval Headlines; from the Japanese minister in Bucharest, noting Roumanian anxiety at the withdrawal of German divisions, on July 19; from the Greek representative in London to the Greek Prime Minister in Cairo, forwarding assurances on Greece from Churchill, on July 26; and ZIP/SJA/593 and 594 were sent to Duncan Sandys (see 7263).
