Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: battle reports from Normandy for July 11/12; reports from the 9th SS Panzer Division; that the Panzer Lehr Division withdraws from its front line in the St Lo area in the face of Allied pressure, on July 12; battle reports from the 2nd Parachute Corps north of St Lo on July 11, noting heavy German losses and that the Germans would be unable to contain future Allied advances unless reserves were brought up; and that the Germans are aware that the Allies were using Cherbourg harbour from the morning of July 12.
