This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: of the 84th Corps' intentions for July 12, including that the Germans are to withdraw over a broad front south of La Haye du Puits; Naval Headlines; frm the Foreign Minister in Tokyo, a report of July 1 to the Japanese ambassador in Berlin concerning the minister's presence at talks in Tokyo between the German ambassador to Japan and the Japanese Prime Minister on June 28; and a follow-up report of July 6 containing 6 pages of what the Japanese Prime Minister had said to the German ambassador, dealing with all aspects of the Japanese war effort and future Japanese intentions; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, a report of July 8 on information obtained from the German minister Reinebeck, formerly a minister in Guatemala, regarding a shift of foreign policy by Argentina following the withdrawal of the British and U.S. ambassadors, noting also that Germany had no intention of pressurising Bulgaria into fighting the Soviet Union, and that Mussolini is to visit Germany in late July to review his troops being trained there and to have talks with Hitler; from the Persian ambassador in London, a report of July 7 on the results of the V-1 attacks against London; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, a report of July 6 on information learned from Vice-Minister Steengracht that day on the progress of the war.
