A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: the 2nd SS Panzer Division reports on July 10 that its withdrawal from the front and formation into battle groups in the Periers area would be decisive in preventing an Allied break-through in the Northern Front of the 84th Corps; Naval Headlines; and the Southern Department's report number 227 of July 10 on conclusions reached by the Japanese diplomatic and military missions in Berlin, that Germany is unlikely to hold out for more than another 12 months, that there is no possibility of a separate German/Soviet peace accord at present, that the success of the Allied landings in Normandy had been very detrimental to German prestige in Japanese official circles, and that the Germans had considered their coastal fortifications in France impregnable.
