Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on West Europe: that the Germans expect an Allied attack in the Caen area, on July 7; situation reports for the Caen area, for July 7; of the 12th SS Panzer Division's tank serviceability, as at July 7; that the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division is facing Allied penetrations south southwest of Carentan, on July 7; that the 84th Army Corps' intentions are to deal with an enemy break through, on July 7; of the Panzer Lehr Division transferring to west of St Lo, on July 7; and that an Allied raid on Dijon causes severe railway damage, on the night of July 5-6; on South Europe: of German casualties in a raid on Montpellier on July 5; and Italian Front battle reports, for July 7, stating that the 14th Panzer Corps suffers extraordinarily high casualties; on South-east Europe: of naval damage caused in a Trieste raid of July 6; and that guerilla leaders in northern Yugoslavia reportedly declare a cessation of hostile actions to provide a basis for negotiations, on July 5.
